Rainbow Welcome Initiative

Hosts Regional Trainings

The Rainbow Welcome Initiative will host four regional trainings during the month of March. These three-day sessions, geared to service providers who work with refugees, immigrants, or asylees, will cover issues of sexuality and gender, while examining the role they play in the resettlement process. Caseworkers, employee counselors, teachers, health practitioners, and others will all benefit from this interactive training as we introduce fundamental concepts and terminology of the LGBT community and explore strategies to adjust services and respond to the particular needs of this population.

Over the course of the training, participants will learn about global conditions for LGBT individuals; have time to reflect on personal experiences working with this community; hear from experts from the legal and mental health fields; and have the opportunity to practically apply knowledge gained in an interactive and safe setting.

If you want to increase your knowledge on issues pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity and acquire tools to better serve LGBT refugees and asylees, then we encourage you to attend one of these free trainings!

San Diego, California: March 7-9

Atlanta, Georgia: March 12-14

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: March 21-23

Chicago, Illinois: March 26-28
